Below is a list of batteries that are compatible with the Dewalt 20V MAX System of cordless powertools.

These SKUs represent individual battery packs, which may not actually be sold individually. (For example, DCB204BT appears to only be sold as part of the DCB204BT-2 2-pack).

Any battery-related SKUs that aren’t individual packs are excluded, such as multi-packs, charging kits, and other accessories. Batteries sold with a charger (aka, starter kit) use a …C suffix (e.g., DCB201C is a DCB201 pack with a charger). Charging kits (which usually come with a charger and a bag) use a …CK suffix (e.g., DCB201CK). Multi-packs of a single battery model use a numeric suffix (e.g., DCB201-2 or DCB201-6 for a 2-pack or 6-pack). A …G suffix indicates an oil-resistent variant of the battery. …BT is used for Bluetooth (TOOL CONNECT) batteries, and …LR means there’s a hook on the battery that a lanyard can be attached to.

FLEXVOLT SKUs begin with DCB6…, indicating they are 60V battery, and have a consistent scheme: DCB6XX, where XX is the capacity in Ah (09, 15, etc).

POWERSTACK battery SKUs begin with DCBP…. Even with only two items in the POWERSTACK line to date, it doesn’t seem to use a consistent SKU scheme.

20V MAX batteries tend to use DCB2XX, where XX is the capacity, but there are several exceptions.

The XR designation seems to simply indicate capacities over 3.0 Ah for the standard 20V MAX product line. 20V MAX and 20V MAX XR are not otherwise different. The XR designation is not used with the POWERSTACK or FLEXVOLT lines, even when capacity exceeds 3.0 Ah.

20V MAX packs use either 18650 or 21700 lithium cells. Some packs that currently use 21700 cells may have previously used 20700 cells with the same SKU. I believe all 20700 cells have been phased out. 21700 variants will generally have metal heat sink tabs on top, and the 20700 variants will not.

POWERSTACK batteries use a stack of lithium-polymer pouches. Whereas 20V MAX is used to describe both a line of tools and battteries, POWERSTACK is only a line of batteries compatible with the 20V MAX system of tools.

This Reddit post goes into some depth about various performance implications of different batteries, beyond just capacity.

Most of this information probably only applies in the US or North America. Dewalt branding and SKUs are different in other regions. Prices are based on common discount prices found at major retailers, and may reflect the price of a single battery from a multi-pack.
